What Three Field Seasons of Mapping and Sampling Told Us About Our 16 Concessions

Three field seasons in. 4,847 samples logged. And I'm still surprised by what the Chumar Bakhoor traverse turned up last September.

Let me give you the honest technical picture across our 16 concessions in Gilgit-Baltistan. Not the pitch deck version. The one with the caveats, the reruns, and the places where the assays didn't match what the outcrop was telling us.

How We Actually Ran the Program

Mapping was done at 1:25,000 across all 16 blocks, with follow-up at 1:5,000 on nine of them where surface indications justified tighter work. We used a combination of Garmin GPSMAP 66sr units for field control, ASTER and Sentinel-2 imagery for lithological interpretation, and structural readings taken on Brunton compasses — old school, but a $400 compass doesn't fail at 4,200 metres when the battery dies.

Sampling was mixed: rock chip, channel, stream sediment, and soil grids on a 100m x 50m spacing where we had access. Access being the operative word. Two of our Ghizer blocks we've only sampled by helicopter drop-off because the jeep track washed out in the 2022 floods and hasn't been rebuilt.

Assays went to Bureau Veritas in Jeddah for the critical minerals suite (ICP-MS, four-acid digest, 48-element package) and to SGS Pakistan for the gold work (fire assay, 50g charge, AAS finish). We ran roughly 8% blanks and duplicates. QA/QC isn't glamorous but every serious JV partner asks for the control charts before they ask for the grades, and they should.

Honestly, I got this wrong at first. My first season back in 2021 I sent samples to a single lab with no blind duplicates. A senior geologist from a Chinese state group flagged it politely on our first call and I've never made that mistake again.

What the Numbers Actually Show

I'll go concession by concession in broad strokes. The full data pack is under NDA but here's the shape of it.

Copper (4 concessions, Kohistan arc affinity): Rock chip highs of 2.14% Cu at our Chalt block, with a 340m x 180m gossan showing consistent 0.3–0.8% Cu in continuous chip lines. Molybdenum runs 40–180 ppm alongside, which is what you'd expect from a porphyry-related system. Gold correlates weakly (0.1–0.4 g/t) but silver is respectable at 8–22 g/t in the sulphide zones. We haven't drilled yet. That's the honest answer to the question every buyer asks by minute six of the call.

Antimony (2 concessions, Chilas–Astore belt): Stibnite veins at Krash Nala assayed between 18% and 47.2% Sb across 22 channel samples. The vein sets are narrow — 0.4m to 1.6m — but persistent along strike for at least 380m mapped. This is the material the European flame-retardant buyers keep asking about. Trioxide-grade feed is realistic here.

Tungsten and molybdenum (3 concessions): Skarn and greisen indicators in the Karakoram batholith margin. Scheelite fluorescence confirmed under UV on 14 sample sites. Grab samples up to 1.8% WO3, with molybdenum in the 0.15–0.42% MoS2 range in the greisen zones. These are strategic minerals with defence and specialty-steel end markets, and the geology holds up.

Gold (3 lode concessions plus placer holdings in Indus, Gilgit, Hunza river systems): Lode grades on the Bunji-adjacent block averaged 3.4 g/t over 68 rock chip samples, with a high of 21.7 g/t in a quartz-sulphide breccia. Placer work is a different beast — we've done bulk sampling on 12 gravel bars with recovered fineness between 850 and 920, and grain sizes suggesting a proximal hard-rock source we haven't fully tracked yet.

Nephrite jade (Skardu and Bunji): Not a grade question, a quality question. Colour, translucency, block size. We've documented 14 in-situ boulder occurrences with the deep spinach-green colour that the Chinese market rates highest.

Bauxite, lead, granite, pegmatite prospects: Reconnaissance stage on most, with the exception of one pegmatite field near Shigar that returned Li2O values of 0.38–1.12% in muscovite-rich zones. Rare earth signatures (Nd, Dy) are elevated in monazite-bearing samples from the same district but I want another season of work before I put a number to it.

What I'd Tell a Partner Sitting Across the Table

Look, geological mapping in Gilgit-Baltistan is not what mapping is in Western Australia or northern Chile. The terrain punishes you. A single traverse can eat two days because of a landslide you didn't know about until you got there. Our per-sample cost is roughly 2.3x what it would be in a mature jurisdiction, and I say that flatly because pretending otherwise wastes everyone's time.

But the mineral exploration data we've built is real, it's documented, and it points at systems that most of the world's critical-minerals supply doesn't currently touch. Antimony outside China. Tungsten outside China. Copper that could feed a smelter in Xinjiang across the Khunjerab, or move south to Karachi for seaborne export to the Gulf and beyond.

The gaps I'd want a JV partner to help close: geophysics (IP and ground magnetics on the copper blocks especially), a proper drill campaign on the two priority porphyry targets, and metallurgical testwork on the antimony ores because the mineralogy is more complex than the assays alone suggest.
